Player Name: Sheepy
Character Name: Mercedes
Canon: Odin Sphere
Canon Background: Wiki
AU Background: Mercedes is the only daughter of Elfaria, the fairy queen of Ringford, one of the most powerful fairy courts in the fairy realm. Elfaria rules the entire kingdom by herself, with the occasional help from her chief adviser (and Mercedes' cousin). Because of this, she has lived somewhat of a sheltered life, still taught the ways of her kingdom, but because of her young age--her mother a few thousand years old herself--she has been able to live a rather carefree life.
However, Amestris has been overstepping their bounds as of late, as the kingdom guards a relic said to have once been a part of the Rift. The two kingdoms have been at odds for quite some time now, although for the most part the two have been at an almost constant stalemate due to Ringford's very strict policy of isolationism.
Personality: Mercedes is very young, both in age and in mindset. Perhaps a bit too over mothered, she is extremely sheltered, not quite knowing or understanding the everyday happenings of those of the human kingdoms. What is more is that, until recently, she has almost never ventured outside of Ringford, settling for staying within the kingdom and taking it upon herself to control the frog population.
While she is somewhat immature, she knows that this is a vice of hers and has been taking steps to try to fix it as of late. This has been met with varying degrees of success, and there is a bit of worry from the royal court as well as the people of Ringford as to whether Princess Mercedes will be able to follow in her mother's footsteps. She is aware of the situation between her kingdom and the kingdom of Amestris, and it isn't that she does not care. Quite the opposite, she wishes to be able to fight alongside her mother and the other fairy warriors. She wants to learn how to become a good queen, and truly she does mean well, but the methods which she uses are not always the best.
Despite her short-comings, she is a very kindhearted fairy, thinking of others--even her "enemies" at times--before herself. She worries about others' well-beings far beyond her own. She also worries about how she is seen by others. She firmly believes that she is not nearly as strong as her mother or her cousin, but when put into a position where she must be, she certainly does know how to man up. She can command a room, but she lacks the confidence and, quite honestly, the know-how. She has never been given a position of power, and would likely not know what to do with it. She believes that she is nothing without the people around her, and to some degree this is true. However, she is not a push-over; her biggest enemy is herself.
Above all, however, she is still a young girl. She has her moments of losing her temper and she can be a bit of a brat at times. This, again, comes from a bit of over-mothering, but she does know how to bite her tongue when it truly does matter.
Combat Style: Mecedes is a bit of a glass canon. Firing magical bolts from her psypher, she is very much a long-range fighter, preferring to stay in the air and filling her opponent. She also uses flight to her advantage, and is able to cross large distances over a very short period of time. Her bow does have a limited amount of power, however, and she does need to be standing in order to reload.

You are about to embark upon a grand journey. What do you carry in your satchel?
Food, a map, supplies, things like that. And a bow.
What does your presence bring to your kingdom?
My presence makes people happier and calmer. I’ve been told I’m a bit like my mother when I was her age, and I hope that one day I’ll be as strong and kind of a leader as she is.
Why do you deserve to rule this land?
I think that I would be a fair and just ruler. I wouldn’t demand more of my people than they could do. I think that’s what is wrong with a lot of kingdoms. People resent their rulers because they ask too much from them, things that shouldn’t even matter, because they are greedy. I don’t want to be that kind of ruler.
What is love to you?
I know that a queen must have love for her people, and I believe that that is being able to do what is best for them whenever possible. Love for another person, though…
It is the eve of a great battle, and the troops have made camp for the night. Where are you and what are you doing?
...Worrying. Will everyone be all right? What if not everyone comes back alive? What will I tell my people?
You are given the opportunity to bet everything you have for great fortune, should you win you will be granted the wealth of kings but should you lose you will lose everything. What do you do?
...I’m not sure. I know that that’s a decision that a ruler would make, but to risk so many people’s lives, I don’t know if I could do it. But if it’s just for my benefit and not for anyone else’s, I wouldn’t go through with it. Why would I bet other people’s lives just for myself?
What do you want people to remember about you after you are gone?
My name, and the things that I was able to do.
What do you do in the face of great adversity?
I don’t know if I’m ready to be queen. I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready. I know that I have a lot of time to prepare, but will I even be ready then?
For what cause are you willing to sacrifice yourself?
So that others will be able to live well. That’s another responsibility of a queen.
Everything you love and held dear has been taken from you in the blink of an eye. What do you do?
I would have to going. No matter what, I would have to keep going.
